Maria Alejandra Escalante is a queer feminist from Colombia. She currently works at FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund leading the advocacy on climate and environmental justice. She has a graduate degree in Rural Territorial Development from FLACSO, Ecuador, and is a Human Ecologist undergrad from College of the Atlantic, Maine, USA. She has experience in movement building and climate justice activism with local, regional, and global coalitions, particularly with youth groups. Maria Alejandra is also an advisor for the Next Generation Climate Board of Global Greengrants and her research lies at the intersection of ecofeminist alternatives and participatory funding models. She loves dancing salsa, especially in queer, liberating spaces.
