Kanchen Shakya, Program Assistant

Kanchen Shakya is a recent graduate of the University of East Anglia, with first class honors in International Development and Geography. She spent a year studying abroad in Norway and also spent a “gap year” volunteering with a small NGO in Nepal. Her undergraduate thesis explored “Indigenous knowledge as an opportunity for more meaningful transformations to environmental justice,” this is where she gained an interest in climate justice. Her research was driven by her interest in how to achieve better social change which benefits all and uses community engagement. As one of her final university projects, she supported the development of a local civil society movement for public access to coastal areas. Having lived in Nepal, India, and more recently in Greece, Kanchen is now based in Oxfordshire, England.
